One thing I had envisioned all along was a hinged table which can be accessed from both the outside of the van, and the inside. I used a piece of 3/4 and barn hinges, and it turned out great. I will custom build legs once the flooring is in and I've sized it correctly. For now it's just resting on a piece of ply.
For the storage area over the kitchen, I left a gap directly above the sink area. I then cut down a piece of metal grating I found which is open to the sink. I will use this area to store my dishes so they can dry and drain into the sink.
Over the wheel wells was a dead space where the curvature would have made it difficult to store anything. I built a wooden box on one side, and walled in the other for misc. things which I won't use very often (e.g. jumper cables, jack, season dependent gear, etc.).
