#14 - Bed/ Storage

This past week I put more work in on the Kitchen Counter/ Cabinets, but the main (noticeable) changes were to the bed frame and storage space. The 3/4" plywood I chopped up from the previous bed frame flexed more than I intended under body weight, so I added a center support to the frame (leftover steel), which stiffened it up. I haven't decided what to do for a mattress yet (may have one custom built to this size, or may just go with foam), so I needed a plywood type base without major gaps to serve as a box spring. I may remove one of these boards if I go with a more rigid mattress.

The previous owner had used a cheap rubber type flooring in the van and under heat/ use they had shifted quite a bit (no tongue or groove etc. to lock them in place). I had planned to throw them away, but Molly suggested I use them for the storage area under the bed where there wouldn't be foot traffic but would protect the rigid insulation board and my gear etc. It may take more maintenance in the future, but I like the outcome.

I still need to put an end piece on it (obviously), and finish insulation over the wheel wells etc. but the bed area is getting close to complete which is fun.
