After lots of staring at the cabinets, I finally started the long and arduous process of cutting the siding... There isn't a straight line on this van and each piece took several measurements and cardboard cutouts. ha. Any gaps you see will be caulked at a later date, and painted/ covered with whatever interior I end up going with. Just roughing everything in at this point.
Kitchen Cabinet/ Storage
View from the bed side. Now you can see the shelves for phones, water, etc.
The insides of the shelves will be painted, but otherwise won't be finished, as they won't be seen behind the cabinet doors.
For the 5 inches or so that covered the window, I've cut insulation board to fit and simply painted the back black. From the outside it just looks like that strip is heavily tinted, so I'm happy with the outcome.
For the cabinets on the opposite side I've only started the upper 2 shelves as I'm still debating what to do here. For the side closest to the door I am going to add a swinging table and may subsequently use a thicker plywood for strength as it's going to experience more abuse on this side. I'm also considering leaving the center shelf open (no siding), as this allows me to still see my blind spot while driving. I would just put up bungee netting to hold things in place if so and move it around before driving.
