Back in October I found an old van with a high top for $3000. 1997 Ford E-150, V8 5.4l, with 179,000 miles. It has some cosmetic issues, but is in surprisingly good shape for the age and mileage.
The van had been psuedo-built into a camper by the previous owner's son (if that wasn't obvious by the skateboards, ha). He tried to build it out using traditional house framing/ studs and clearly didn't understand how insulation works, because the insulation was simply shoved in between boards leaving massive gaps. Not only did it reduce the living space but it also negated any value the insulation might have had. ha.
Before I got started, though, the first hurdle was the State Emissions Test. Once I got a new battery put in the van threw a code. Thought I had bought a lemon, but luckily I was able to replace the differential pressure sensor and get the code to clear. Quickly learned that everything in this van is in a tight space and difficult to work on...
